Natural Beef
Ranching and beef production have always been a part of the MacGregor Family legacy and continue today on the historic ranch. Alexander MacGregor first registered the XIX Brand in 1885, stating in his diary "the XIX brand is available and we like it". From the early homesteading times to modern day, MacGregor Ranch has been home to an active cattle operation. During the early years on the Ranch, Donald MacGregor often had as many as 200 head of cattle selling 70 calves a year. The historic XIX MacGregor brand is still used today at the annual branding day in mid-May. Early morning round-up starts the day, and the new calves are roped and branded the old-fashioned way. Cattle drives and pasture rotation are done by horseback, and a summer visitor to Estes Park might just find themselves in the middle of a cattle drive on one of the main highways of town. School children often come to learn about and observe this Western tradition during their studies of Colorado history. Today, the Ranch offers all-natural beef products as a source of income and support for the historic operations. MacGregor Black Angus cattle are born and raised on the natural grass meadows of the historic mountain ranch. The cattle are raised antibiotic and hormone free. The Ranch offers a wide variety of steak cuts, lean ground meats, roasts and packages. For a current beef price list and availability contact jane@macgregorranch.org
